Walt Disney are set to launch a new UK website on the 10th December with a new community section that lets users personalise their own profile and interact with other users.
Disney.co.uk is a portal for children and parents, offering videos, games and music. The new social feature, ‘Disney Xtreme Digital’ (Disney XD), lets users create their own web profile with their favourite Disney videos, music, games, trivia, quizzes and avatars as well as watching and sharing videos with friends; chatting with friends, listening to music; creating playlists; and competing with each other on games.
Commenting on the launch, Cindy Rose, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, WDIG, Europe, Middle East & Africa, said:
When we developed the concept for Disney.co.uk, we looked at how people use the Internet and we found that kids, in particular, tend to multi-task online, playing games, watching videos, chatting with their friends and listening to music - all at once. Disney.co.uk allows our audience to do this while immersing themselves in the worlds of their favourite Disney characters.

To address saftey issues for children, Disney.co.uk includes age-appropriate levels of online chat and monitoring of communication to prevent the exchange of personal information. Parents will be able to create family accounts where they can manage each child’s depth of experience individually.
