A Canadian group is hoping to bring the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to more people by enhancing the accessibility of its website.
The new site from The Fundamental Freedoms Project, which is an initiative created to examine the charter, has been designed for individuals with visual and hearing impairments.
Additionally, the portal will be available in five languages - later to be extended to 11 - which its creators believe reflects the growing ethnic diversity of Canada.
The Fundamental Freedoms Project states: "Key to the Charter of Rights website is accessibility."
Barbara Jones, Executive Producer of Sailor Jones Media which created the portal, notes that the charter presents comprehension difficulties, particularly for individuals for whom English is a second language.
Sailor Jones Media states that the site is the largest and most extensive online concerning "the single most important document in Canadian history".
