Shoreline Housing has upgraded the accessibility of its website, aiming to meet the needs of a wider range of people.

The group, which is responsible for the management of 8,200 homes in north-east Lincolnshire, has installed a new system which enables visually impaired web users to hear the text on a page.

Additionally, the site's designers have used cascading style sheets for its layout, while all pages comply with priorities one and two of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Julie Thompson, Shoreline's Administration Officer responsible for upgrading the portal, comments: "The site is up-to-date, fast, efficient and user-friendly, meeting the needs and exceeding the expectations of our wide range of customers."

She adds that further improvements will be made to keep in line with the changing demands of a varied user base.

Residents can use the website for a number of functions, including application for a home or job and rent payment.
