Bristol City Council is hoping that its new website will give residents an unprecedented opportunity to air their views.

The new service, Viewfinder, encourages the area's citizens to log on and upload videos, mp3s, text and images, and is compatible with a wide range of media devices.

Developed in coordination with the Department for Constitutional Affairs' e-innovations programme, the portal has been designed as a means of encouraging young people to take part in local democracy.

Simon Cook, Executive Member for Health Promotion, Young People and Leisure, comments: "This is a really exciting development in public consultation and e-communications ... we want people to log on, be inspired by the views of others and then broadcast their own ideas and have their say."

Mr Cook adds that the area's young people have valuable views on a variety of issues - such as traffic, safety and recycling.

Additionally, the site's creators have outlined several topics for discussion, currently inviting opinions on the renovation of Bristol South Pool.
