The Royal Borough of Kingston Council has announced that more residents are using the Internet to interact with services.
Through the council tax revenue site, some £2.5 million is expected to be deposited by March, representing a 140 per cent increase on the previous year's figures.
Additionally, this means that one-fifth of all council tax payments made to the authority will have utilised the system.
Robin Noble, ICT Development Manager at the Royal Borough of Kingston Council, comments: "We see rapid take-up of our online council services and more efficient revenue collection.
"We are putting valuable information at the fingertips of citizens."
The official added that the Internet was enabling the council to offer a wider range of communications options to its constituents.
In addition to tax payment, residents can use the council's Internet presence for a variety of functions, such as reporting incidents of crime or noise pollution, recording complaints or petitions and registering their interest in being a foster carer.
