A Kent school is using online video conferencing technology to forge links with other establishments around the world.
Northwood Primary School in Bexley is offering pupils the chance to work with schools in China and the USA, while also coordinating with other youngsters in the UK.
The technology, which incorporates a secure broadband connection via the national education network, has been supplied by London Grid for Learning (LGfL).
Rosie Medhurst , school headteacher, commented that the link-up has "enabled communication and collaboration in ways we could not have conceived possible".
"To offer this technology has been exceptional and has given us great inspiration into how we can further develop collaboration with other schools around the globe," she said.
In addition, the children are able to take virtual tours of art galleries and museums in order to further their education, while teachers are able to connect to the network free of charge at any given time.
LGfL is a group comprising 33 local authorities offering broadband, online support and network services for schools.
