Broadband Internet access enables company owners to achieve a better work-life balance, a new BT study has indicated.
The survey, which was conducted among more than 430 small businesses in the UK, found that 82 per cent are able to achieve this by more flexibility, remote access and higher access speeds.
Of the respondents, 95 per cent have broadband in their home, which enables them to conduct many business operations remotely.
Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business, said: "Britain's small businesses are critical to the health of the UK economy and broadband is becoming central in helping them to thrive without compromising other aspects of their lives."
The research also discovered that 48 per cent expect that they will be using VoIP services by next year.
Last year BT announced that it would be supporting the creation of 12 wireless cities in the UK, which will offer businesses and citizens access to high-speed connectivity.
