Work Wise UK's campaign to get more disabled Britons into work using web technology has been boosted by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) signing its concordat.
The EOC is the latest major British organisation to throw its weight behind the initiative, which has also garnered the support of the Confederation of British Industry, the Trades Union Conference, the British Chambers of Commerce and Transport for London.
Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Work Wise UK, explains the significance of this agreement: "Today’s work culture is from another era ... it discriminates against those who have a family, who have aged relatives or who have a disability."
Work Wise UK promotes the use of flexible and home-based working via the Internet and other leading-edge technologies to put an end to the rigidity of nine-to-five office-based work, which may forge barriers to many Britons.
Earlier this week, Lorely Burt, the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for women and small businesses, backed Work Wise UK for its potential to help mothers on maternity leave make a positive contribution to their organisation.
