Officials at Ryedale District Council are thrilled that its website has now topped a monthly total of 10,000 visitors for the first time.

During March, 10,170 unique visitors logged in to the portal, which has a range of information and services available including job details, making payments and benefits applications.

On average, each viewer clocked up two visits each month, with the total number of pages accessed being just under 234,000.

David Henderson, web and content manager at Ryedale District Council, commented: "We believe that the website is a valuable aid to enable access to the wide range of council services in a large, diverse, rural district such as Ryedale."

Additionally, Mr Henderson said that web users are able to find the required information more easily, as the number of visitors is growing, while the total accessed pages has fallen by 25 per cent in the first three months of the year.

Ryedale's site also provides services for non-residents, such as a range of tourist information and the ability to book accommodation in the area.
