Companies must ensure that they offer high levels of usability to be successful, one expert has warned.
Although a site may appear to be fully usable, several added extras can be the ingredients which keep customers coming back for more, according to Adam Keenan, writing for Bytestart.
Features such as a contact page to help users stay in touch with the organisation and a blog which regularly updates viewers can be techniques to stay ahead of the game, he claimed.
"Regardless of your company’s size, with a great website you can have a sales team working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, right where your customers need them to be," he remarked.
However, Mr Keenan also said that Flash intros can be useful to create a memorable experience for web users - something which web expert Shari Furrow warned could have hidden problems.
Speaking to ClickZ, the analyst warned developers to beware the potential damage of Flash to a site's search engine performance.
