This May will see the 16th instalment of a major international conference on web accessibility held in Banff, Canada.

The International Cross-Disciplinary Conference on Web Accessibility will take place on May 7th and 8th and discuss concerns that popular sites such as Google Maps, MySpace and YouTube could soon be unusable to disabled users.

Experts will discuss the possibility that Web 2.0 could become either an opportunity or a new challenge to inclusive web design.

Michael Cooper, a World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative expert, will address the conference and present the organisation's views on the topic.

"While the new techniques and paradigm of Web 2.0 present challenges to web accessibility, there is much opportunity as well," states the W3C.

Last year's event attracted 72 attendees and ran for one and a half days, making it the largest in its history.
