Accessible websites enable a company to reach "the widest possible audience", a US company has claimed.
Colorado-based Lightning Eliminators and Consultants (LEC), which sells lightning protection solutions, made the comments after conducting a full accessibility upgrade of its site.
The company has included accessibility features such as the ability to alter text size and navigate with a keyboard.
"Our new site recognises the differences between our various audience segments and delivers the best possible experience regardless of the visitor's technology or location," said Doug Whitney, Technical Marketing Specialist at the organisation.
He added that the previous incarnations of the website failed to understand the variations within the potential online usership.
LEC provides solutions for a wide ranging customer base, including government organisations which employ protection equipment at facilities such as nuclear waste isolation pilot plants, airports, weapons storage facilities and Nasa and FBI installations.
