Disabled students at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) are to gain access to its website thanks to a new accessibility project.
In order to help the students online, a centre has been created at the Zakir Hussain Library, which will offer adaptive technology such as screen readers for users who need to access the web, reports local news service India edunews.
In addition, optical character recognition scanners will be available, with which printed material can be scanned, enabling the web users to access electronic formats via their assistive technology.
JMI, the National Islamic University, is located in New Delhi and prides itself on its provision of information and communications technology for Indian students.
The Zakir Hussain Library, part of Zakir Hussain College in the same city, offers books for an entire academic session to those students who need them most keenly.
