Reigate and Banstead Borough Council is hoping to meet the needs of a more diverse range of the populace by upgrading the accessibility of its website.
The authority aims to match the See it Right website standards formulated by the Royal National Institute of the Blind to enable visually-impaired web users to access online services.
Overall, the council will produce a raft of service improvements in order to better cater to diverse members of the community, including those for whom English is a second language and disabled individuals living at home.
"The council is seeking comments on the draft scheme and in particular suggestions on what additional steps we should include in our action plan," stated the body.
Currently, the council site conforms with the Web Accessibility Initiative's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and features a number of options for web users with individuals requirements.
