Southampton Council is celebrating after a website run by its Children's Information Services (CIS) division was recognised in a family-friendly website award programme.
The website run by the free family information service was called "impressive" by the Advisory Centre for Education (Ace) and Sage Publications, which organised the awards.
Ace's Margaret McGowan explained that the scheme was looking for a website that provided information in a user-friendly and accurate way.
The judges stated that they had been impressed by how current the information on the CIS site was - with parents who are looking for a service like child care in their area able to be reassured that the information is up-to-date.
Information was "detailed yet not overwhelming" with the multiple languages option sending "an immediate message of accessibility and openness", they added.
Southampton City Council's executive director for children's services and learning Clive Webster commented: "Busy parents and carers need to get information easily and quickly and that is the standard which has been used to shape this site."
Prizes for winners included up to £200 worth of books from Sage and a further £100 worth of Ace publications.
