Two local authorities are seeking accessibility suggestions and feedback from residents regarding a proposed website redevelopment.

Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucester City Council are canvassing public opinion with online questionnaires regarding the key accessibility features, such as text-only options and alternative image text.

Other options suggested to potential site users include the ability to alter font size and colour, a greater number of audio podcasts and keyboard access keys.

Cheltenham Borough Councillor David Hall told Publictechnology.net: "Open and clear communications are a vital ingredient of our local democracy and the provision of our public services."

He added that upgrades to the site would enable the council to "continue to provide a first-class online service".

A recent best value study undertaken by Cheltenham council found that the last three years has shown steady improvement in its service provision.

Some 87 per cent of recorded performance indicators were found to be either the same or better than the previously recorded level.
