The Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) has received a commendation at this year's ICT Hub National Awards, thanks in part to its website design.
Commended in the Most Effective Use of IT in the Voluntary Sector category, the organisation's site provides free information and advice about specialist disability and mobility equipment to disabled and elderly individuals, their families and carers.
The DLF website features a number of accessible design features, with all text size alterable and alt text attributes applied to all images, meaning that they are compatible with assistive technology such as screen readers.
New features on the service which have attracted particular praise include a product comparison tool and discussion groups, with the user interface enhancements also drawing positive attention.
"The DLF has gone to some lengths to ensure that this website is available to as broad an audience as possible and to optimise its usability," states the organisation.
