Some 63 per cent of mobile Internet users in the UK are male, compared to 54 per cent of all PC users, new research has revealed.
The Telephia and comScore survey showed that 5.7 million people in the UK used a mobile device to access the web during January 2007.
Bob Ivins, Managing Director of comScore Europe, said: "Similar to the Internet ten to 15 years ago, men under the age of 35 are the early adopters of new technology and more likely to use mobile devices to access the mobile web than women or men aged over 35."
The research also showed that the UK is ahead of the US in trying out mobile web access, with 19 per cent of the PC-based Internet audience in the UK using a mobile device to access the web compared to 17 per cent of US PC web users during the same month.
Meanwhile, a recent survey conducted by iCrossing showed that 75 per cent of mobile users navigate to search engines while surfing the Internet.
