The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has published the latest and updated working draft of the best practice for eXtensible Markup Language (XML) Internationalisation.

Internationalisation, the process by which web technologies can be applied to work with differing languages, scripts and cultures, is potentially vital in providing accessibility solutions for non-English speaking countries - particularly those in the Far East and South East Asia.

The new best practice schema is designed to be used by a number of web development professionals alongside the International Tag Set W3C Recommendation.

"Following the best practices describes here allow both the developer of XML applications, as well as the author of XML content, to create material in different languages," explains the W3C.

However, the body also accepts that the document is currently in a formative stage, with more adjustments and feedback needing to be accounted before a final version can be published.
