Waveney District Council has announced the launch of a new online planning service.

With real-time access to planning information, the new website feature will enable residents to interactive with and query planning information more conveniently and effectively, council officials hope.

Furthermore, planning officers can use the site to access residents' comments and complaints instantly, thereby potentially providing a more responsive public service.

Councillor Ken Sale, Waveney's Portfolio Holder for the Built Environment, noted that many local people will no longer have to make the journey to the council's headquarters to use this service.

"I believe this new service will prove invaluable to both residents and planning officers and I am delighted to see it up and running on the Council's website," he remarked.

Nationally, the government's award-winning Planning Portal was launched to provide a one-stop shop of planning information, for public, professional and government web users.
