Bournemouth Tourism has been praised for the excellence of its website.
Although the body won the award of Best Resort Website in 2005, it was this year recognised with a top three place, which officials claim is reward for the efforts made to create an effective site.
The site received more than four million hits in 2006, representing an increase of 139 per cent from the previous year, leading to the recognition from the British Resorts and Destinations Association.
Mark Smith, Head of Tourism for Bournemouth, commented: "With the amount of competition from other tourist sites it is a real honour to again be recognised as one of the best in the rapidly growing area of electronic marketing."
Bournemouth Tourism fended off competition from 60 other tourism sites to secure a top three place.
According to official figures, some 5.5 million visitors are attracted to the destination each year, adding £350 million to the UK tourism industry.
