The European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have established a new portal for IT security standards.
Comprising information about standardisation organisations and the standards they have published, the new portal offers Europe a single access point for IT security information.
Andrea Pirotti, Executive Director of ENISA, said: "For the first time, IT security vendors, service providers, developers, researchers and the interested public have standards at their fingertips, with one common user interface."
Launching the first version now, the two organisations expect the portal to be updated and enlarged to ensure that the system contains comprehensive information relating to network and information security (NIS) standards.
ENISA, a European Union agency, claims to be a "centre of excellence" for member states and institutions, providing NIS advice and recommendations.
Arguing that interconnected networks now impact upon people's everyday lives, the organisation states that it is crucial that systems function within the "digital economy".
