A new website has been launched by the Mayor of London in a bid to boost environmental awareness among the capital's residents.

The new site forms part of the DIY Planet Repairs information programme, which aims to provide information to some 7.4 million individuals regarding home improvements that can be made to battle climate change.

When logging on to the portal, web users can access information about climate change and submit questions to be answered by an expert panel.

In addition, practical advice on issues such as cavity wall insulation is offered, while users can calculate their own carbon footprints.

DIY Planet Repairs states: "As Londoners we all need to do our bit by taking a few simple steps such as switching things off, turning things down and investing in energy saving products."

The service will interact with the private and public sectors to provide incentives for Londoners to encourage sustainable practices.
