The Internet is becoming an increasingly important part of people's everyday lives, according to a new report.
In a survey of over 2,500 households in the UK by Orange Broadband, 61 per cent of respondents said that they could not live without access to the Internet, with 47 per cent spending three or more hours online a day.
Commenting on the findings, Asif Aziz, Director of Product Management at the firm, said that it was "amazing" to see how the Internet has evolved to become a popular pastime over the last ten years.
"Household Internet connections really have become the centre of our home information, entertainment and communication needs," he remarked.
In another survey this week, comScore found that UK Internet users access the web more frequently than their European counterparts.
The firm reported that Britons spend an average of 34.4 hours per month online.
