Football's governing body Fifa has launched a new website that takes accessibility standards into account.

Complying with the Web Accessibility Initiative, the new site, which includes breaking news, interviews, statistics and results, has been developed to ensure that it is accessible to all.

President of Fifa Joseph S Blatter said: "With its new website, Fifa now has an integrated communication platform which leverages the convergence of Internet, TV and print media to offer the best of football to the widest possible audience at any time of the day."

The site is available in four "official" languages – English, German, French and Spanish – as well as the languages of country's hosting tournaments, such as Chinese for the 2007 Fifa Women's World Cup.

Mr Blatter recently outlined Fifa's commitment to social development through football at its 57th Congress in Zurich last month.

While at the event, the organisation unveiled a new slogan – "For the game. For the world".
