eMarketer has claimed in a report that video ad sales will grow from an estimated $775 million in 2007 to $3.1 billion in 2010 and then to $4.3 billion in 2011.
Expected activity between now and 2011 is thought to represent advertisers merely “testing the water”, but these figures mean that expenditure on video ads would account for $1 of every $10 of Internet advertising. From 2011 and beyond, online commercials will appear in multiple forms but users will be offered payoffs for their time, such as free games or coupons.
All you have to do is take a few percentages off of a TV advertiser's typical budget and that is going to be a large amount of money,
