The National Audit Office has published a report which states the UK’s e-Government progress in which web accessibility features high in the list of priorities.
The report, which was created to help the National Audit Office better judge appropriate levels of investment in assets such as online services, focuses on improving the quality of online provision and encourages and assists citizens where required to use these online services. It recommends that web-based services are user focused, with the demographics of their audience in mind. They must meet certain web accessibility and usability standards before being published online and the information should be easily retrieved.
The National Audit Office is independent of government and strives to help the UK spend money wisely by auditing public bodies on efficiency and effectiveness of their operations and expenditure.
