A study carried out suggests that users are unaware of what services are available from their Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) due to lack of information and second-rate usability.

Montreal Based Radialpoint, who provide managed Internet services to ISP’s, commissioned the survey which discovered that almost 50 per cent of those questioned were unaware of the security services available to them. Further more, just under 35 percent of people were completely oblivious to any other services except email and Internet.

Founding member of the consulting firm Maskery Scott Plewes was not surprised about the results and continued on to say that IT managers could learn a lot from the survey.
Plewes commented:

Engineers are great at engineering and developers are great at developing because that is what they’re trained to do, but, if you want a good user-interface, you need somebody that’s trained in it.
