The business world has already dramatically taken on the use of wireless email, and it is now set to spread to the general public too.
Gartner, an organisation that delivers technology-related insights, has launched a new report that suggests that by 2010, 350 million business and public users will be using wireless email. This is a significant increase from today’s user base of 20 million.
With the increased availability of mobile enabled devices and the improved usability, wireless email should have secured status by 2012.
Monica Basso, research vice president at Gartner commented:
by 2017, wireless email will be fully integrated with other messaging tools into personal, converged communications. Companies like Microsoft, IBM, Nokia and RIM [Research In Motion] are already taking some steps in this direction.
