A new website called localmouth aims to help people get more involved in their communities by encouraging local people to share information with one other.
The site currently represents 46,751 communities across Britain, with one page dedicated to each. Anyone can log-on and contribute information about the area.
According to Matt Collins, the founder of localmouth:
localmouth is trying make it easier for local people to find out what's going on in their area. The website offers something like a virtual noticeboard for each local community. If you run a local club, for example, you can add a description of it on the localmouth.com page for where you live and help more people find out about you.
