According to the online retail body, IMRG, online retail in the UK has hit a new high in July, with sales exceeding £4bn for the first time.
UK online sales have increased by 80% year-on-year, to £4.2bn - £1.86bn higher than July 2006.
According to these new findings from the IMRG, electricals was the fastest growing sector, up by 102% year-on-year, followed by clothing, footwear and accessories which were up 56% on the year before.

IMRG was surprised by the strength of July's growth, so checked and rechecked the figures, and then checked them again Major brands are bringing on-stream the next generation of slick new internet retailing services, and consumers are flocking to use them. It's big players' success that is now driving etail growth and boosting the Index.
