Nearly three quarters of people buying goods and services over the internet do not read the terms and conditions before clicking on the accept button, according to research from Standard Life Healthcare.
Standard Life spokesperson Mandy Blanks explained:
It is a worrying trend as agreeing to terms and conditions on a website is the same as signing a physical contract. The Internet has made it easier for us all, but it's best to exercise caution, especially if dealing with a company for the first time. A good website will always make it easy to see any terms and conditions.

Research also presented startling statistics that more than one in two people do not read the terms and conditions because they say they trust the brand.
E-commerce is a growth area and increasing numbers of people are confident to buy online, but it's clear that not everyone reads the small print first. While of course the brands they trust can be trusted online as much as offline, people should take care when dealing with a new company for the first time.
