Amazon Europe has sold its DVD rental business to LOVEFiLM. Regulators cleared the deal for completion this week.
LOVEFiLM users can choose from over 65,000 titles including video games, a film download service and interactive film reviews. The deal will mean Amazon’s DVD rental customers in the UK and Germany will become members of LOVEFiLM for no extra cost.
LOVEFiLM and Amazon Europe intend to complete the acquisition shortly. Simon Calver, CEO of LOVEFiLM International said:
We are looking forward to officially welcoming customers from Amazon in the United Kingdom and Germany……….LOVEFiLM offers one of the largest selections of films in Europe, and we can’t wait to provide these customers with our best possible home entertainment experience.
Amazon Europe will make a cash investment into LOVEFiLM, becoming its largest shareholder.
