A new utilities service is being launched by BeatThatQuote.com. The price comparison site has teamed with Energylinx to create the site.
The site will let users compare gas and electricity prices for all UK providers. They will then be able to apply directly online. Relevant information is also available to help inform customers.
In 2007 5.1 million households switched their gas and electricity suppliers. This was the highest level of switching for five years according to figures released this month by energy regulator Ofgem. Recent research also indicates that up to a third of consumers switched to more expensive tariffs.
Nadya Waengkang, Product Manager at BeatThatQuote.com, said:
Our advice is to start looking at fixed rate or capped price energy deals - If wholesale prices remain at their current average levels then we are on track to see a 25% increase in electricity prices and a 10% increase around September this year.
