April 2006
The Nomensa FTSE Report provides analysis of the standards of accessibility achieved by the FTSE 100 company websites.
The homepages of 99 FTSE 100 company websites were measured and evaluated, for the first time manually, against the globally recognised Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), over a two week period in April 2006. Of the 47 checkpoints required, only four can be tested automatically with any degree of accuracy. Nomensa used its expert inspectors to carry out the remaining 43 checkpoints manually.
The Report
The report includes a breakdown of all checkpoints tested along with examples of good and bad compliance. Along with the report, Nomensa are also extending our services to include:
- Further testing to Triple-A level of compliance to complete a full gap analysis on the level of accessibility achieved;
- Customised report detailing the checkpoints failed and providing a clear explanation as to why those were failed and the impact on website users;
- Workshop to present and discuss results with your team to raise in-house knowledge and solutions for making accessible web technology now and sustaining it in the future.
