This one day course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to actionably improve the usability of your website using best practice techniques. This is a hands-on, highly practical course through which you will become familiar with how key usability skills and techniques are applied. You will be taught through studying real-world examples, seeing precisely how usability methods improve the experience for users, and the organisational benefits.
Course outline
During this course delegates will be provided with real life examples to support the course material, delegates will then be given the chance to apply the skills they are taught, through interactive training activities. To enhance the learning experience, delegates will first operate as a small group, before being presented with usability tasks to complete on their own. Working through examples in this way will highlight both the benefits and the pitfalls of the various techniques and provide you with a clear understanding of how best to introduce usability into your own web project.
Course topics include:
- The usability lifecycle;
- Overview of usability research;
- Real world examples – the benefits and pitfalls of usability techniques;
- Knowing your audience;
- The best usability research techniques for you;
- Applying usability research through hands-on exercises;
- Refining templates and techniques for your organisation.
Who should attend?
Designers, Developers, Managers and Analysts from marketing, commercial or IT functions. Those who are tasked with getting the most from an online project, and ensuring it maximises your investment in time and resources will benefit from this one day immersion in the world of usability.
It may help (although it is not essential) for you to have a prior understanding of what usability is. Our ‘Introduction to Usability’ course provides a useful first step in understanding usability. You will also gain more from the training if you have an awareness of the web development process (though this is not a technical course).
Our Trainers
Our trainers are recognised experts in their field, frequently called upon to speak at conferences and events both in the public and private sector. We combine a factual presentation with discussions and interactive exercises to encourage participation and enhance the learning experience.
What is provided?
All course materials will be provided, including best practice examples discussed during the course. Delegates will be awarded a certificate in Usability Practice and Technique upon completion. Lunch and refreshments are also provided.
How much does it cost?
The course costs £395+VAT per delegate. Discounts are available to those who book other Nomensa courses on consecutive days, allowing delegates to gain a deeper understanding of user experience. Find out what other courses are available to you on the training schedule.
If you require a number of people to be trained on the same course, we can provide you and your team with a tailored in-house training course.
