2001 - Nomensa was founded!
Established in 2001, Nomensa has worked with an extensive range of high profile clients. Bringing together the principles of psychology and design to achieve meaningful design interaction. Image: Aerial picture of Queen square, where Nomensa is based.
2002 - Humanising technology
Nomensa CEO Simon Norris coined the phrase "Humanising Technology" to reflect Nomensa's belief that digital technology should be both usable and accessible.
2003 - Haringey Council client win and award
Client win of Haringey Council. Designed the first WCAG v1.0 Level AA accessible local authority website for Haringey Council. Won an IVCA Award for Haringey Council's website redesign.
2004 - NHS and British Gas client wins
Client win of NHS. Designed the NHS Choose and Book service as well as developing a website for the Department of Health. Client win of British Gas. Reduced British Gas' paperless billing application process from 18 minutes to less than 4 minutes.
2005 - Number 10 client win
Client win of Number 10. Worked with Number 10 to understand stakeholder requirements and improve both overall user experience and accessibility of their website.
2006 - Groundbreaking work
Groundbreaking work for United Nations. Produced the first Global Accessibility Audit for the United Nations investigating the accessibility of 100 leading websites from 20 countries around the world.
2007 - Trinity Mirror Group client win
Client win of Trinity Mirror Group. Appointed by the Trinity Mirror Group to deliver a user experience review and improved click-through by over 90%.
2008 - YouTube player and Defacto
Developed the world's first fully accessible and customisable YouTube media player. Defacto v2.0 launched Nomensa's accessible content management system. Defacto is updated offering greater flexibility and a richer feature set.
2009 - Sky client win and award
Client win of Sky. Begins engagement with BSkyB, producing design, strategy and research work and hosting sites on our CMS, Defacto. Won IVCA award for external interactive media for Sky Rainforest Rescue.
2010 - Invited experts and further client wins
Co-authors of BSI's BS 8878 Code of Practice. Nomensa representatives become W3C invited experts for guidelines and standards. Further client wins in 2010 included:

2011 - Gov.uk client win and our birthday
Client win of Gov.uk. Nomensa provides consultancy for the award winning gov.uk website. Nomensa celebrates its 10th birthday with a growing team of over 35 people.
2012 - Nominet and Barnardo's client wins
Client win of Nominet. Worked with Nominet to develop brand guidelines, create a long-term digital strategy and produce acclaimed responsive website designs. Client win of Barnardo's. Increasing donations for Barnardo's through in-depth audience research. Donation amounts increased by 17% and those completing the journey by 16%.
2013 - Royal Mail client win and new look Nomensa website
Client win of Royal Mail. Appointed as Accessibility partner by Royal Mail. Work already completed includes various accessibility audits and reviews. Nomensa.com gets a redesign. The Nomensa site launches as a shining example of responsive design by our UX and accessibility experts. We're now 50+ people and have offices in Bristol.
