Content Designer

As a world class strategic UX agency, Nomensa has been helping clients create innovative and inclusive digital experiences since 2001. Our services and designs place every human at the heart of every product, device, app and service we create. With Bristol, London and Amsterdam locations, and client wins across the commercial, charity, and government sectors we continue to grow.

This growth means we have a mix of exciting and varied permanent and freelance Content Designer opportunities at midweight and senior level. If you love the idea of working on important projects where your work could reach millions of people and help design better products and services, then we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

Your work could help design better experiences that are inclusive and accessible for millions of users. You’ll be working closely with our user experience consultants, interaction designers and developers to plan and structure content in such a way that it is optimised for the web, is accessible for all and and written in plain English. You will enable the information users are searching for to be found in a clear, concise manner that minimises unnecessary duplication or complication.

You’ll have solid research to inform the way you design content in response to identified needs. You understand the value of this as well as the user analytics, and use this to plan and write digital content to suit the goals of the projects and clients guides.

Why you’ll love us

We aim to have a supportive environment where we are all inspired to do our best work, where we respect, collaborate and learn from each other. We have an amazing variety of projects and clients in the commercial, charity, and government sectors and there is always scope to develop your knowledge, skills and experience.

We’ve got a fantastic culture we want to keep evolving. We have achieved the Gold Standard Investors in People award (not easy!) and encourage everyone to be involved, to share their ideas and shape our business. We are inclusive and ultimately want you to be successful and happy, and to live our values - think bigger, be bold, be human.

Sound like somewhere you can see yourself? If so, read on…

What we need from you

You are an experienced content writer for the web and are someone who is able to plan and write content in a user-centred way for high profile projects. You have experience of designing content that goes beyond core copywriting. This could have been gained working for a digital agency or as part of an in-house digital department, for example. Experience of working with or within Government (ideally to GDS standards) would be particularly useful although projects will provide variety across a range of sectors. There are opportunities for senior roles too, so if you also have experience of taking a lead practitioner role and/or driving the solutions and strategies deployed on a project all the better.

With a proactive, flexible attitude you’ll enjoy collaborating and working with others, from colleagues to clients. You enjoy working independently and taking accountability for your work, as well as positively contributing to the teams you are part of. Attention to detail is a given, less so is your ability to easily move from detail to wider thinking when needed to bring real value to your work.

How to apply

The perm opportunities are full-time although we are open to applications for part-time or job share roles. The team is based in our Bristol office, although we are currently enabling hybrid working (i.e. WFH and office based) so you don’t need to be BS1 based every day. This would be discussed at interview.

To apply, upload your CV to our recruitment site with a covering email telling us why you’d be a great fit and confirming whether you see yourself as a midweight or senior level practitioner. Please also confirm whether you are looking for a perm or freelance role.

Due to further commercial success, we are extending the deadline for applications for these opportunities to Tuesday 7th December so send us your application ASAP!
