Interaction Designer

Nomensa is a strategic experience design agency. Combining our experience in psychology, interaction design and technology, we transform digital experiences.

We work hard to understand people, their emotional reaction to design and create exciting digital interactions in response to this. We have one of the largest, most talented teams of specialists in Europe, who have designed award winning digital experiences that have reached millions of people.

We have ambitious growth plans, and with over 125 staff across Bristol, London, and Amsterdam, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Interaction Designer to join our Design team in Bristol.

Why choose Nomensa?

Our people love working here, it’s a supportive working environment where you will be collaborating with people from across the whole studio, all of whom are passionate about our focus of “humanising technology” and take enormous pride in their work. We are one of the few companies within the UK to achieve gold standard accreditation by Investors in People and are a genuine meritocracy. We are committed to giving our people a supportive platform for ongoing career development, and you’ll have a variety of projects to work on for well-known clients in the commercial, charity, and government sectors. We are inclusive and ultimately want you to be successful and happy, and to live our values - think bigger, be bold, be human.

If this sounds like a place that suits your way of working and can provide what you are looking for in your career, then we would love to hear from you.

What we’re looking for

As an Interaction Designer you’ll be expected to ensure quality, innovation, creativity and accessibility in all aspects of user interaction. As part of an agile product delivery you’ll be designing services that work for a wide range of people.

You’ll be working closely with user researchers, service designers, UI and content designers and have experience in creating simplicity within complex user journeys where iterative design is key to our solutions. In addition, you’ll understand GDS/GOV UK design principles, ensuring that elements such as accessibility are built into your designs from the outset. Your work will require collaboration as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver user focussed and successful services that go beyond the screen.

What you’ll bring

You are skilled in creating, improving, and managing high-quality, user-centred designs for both digital and non-digital products and touchpoints, and effectively use analytics and user insights to evaluate and improve user interfaces and interactions. You understand how to make complex processes and services easy to understand and use, and you design accessible and inclusive products and services that address health and social inequalities, and change attitudes and behaviours.

With experience in working in a fast paced environment and using lean-centred design methods, you understand best practices in interaction design, and the ability to embed them into an agile workflow to deliver timely outputs, adapting as needed to changing priorities and deadlines. Great negotiation and effective stakeholder management is a pre-requisite and previous experience of interaction design work within a government or health setting using GDS/GOV UK design patterns and systems is also preferred.
